IESE’s Business Angels Network turns 20

Founded in 2003 by Professor Juan Roure, the Business Angels Network just celebrated its 20th anniversary. Training 345+ investors and supporting a community of 700+, the network has funded 350+ start-ups with €55 million over two decades. It marks a milestone in collaborative investment. IESE takes part in the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit

Researchers, spin-offs, investors, and corporations came together in the second edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit to share ideas and build new partnerships discussing disruptive technology for global challenges. IESE moderated two panel discussions: "How do corporations develop deep-tech products?" and “Is climate change a deep-tech problem? Read more in this article.

Professor Mª Julia Prats joins the Royal European Academy of Doctors

On 15 January 2024, Professor Mª Julia Prats was selected as a Numerary Member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors, with the speech 'Open innovation as a (potential) engine of growth for people and companies', which you can watch on this YouTube video

Established in Barcelona in 1914, the Academy comprises 150 academicians, including 19 Nobel Prize laureates.

Lazada (cofounded by IESE MBA alum) raises $630M from Alibaba

Singapore-based e-commerce Lazada, founded by IESE MBA ’11 and 40under40 jury Gerald Glauerdt, raises an additional $630 million round from the tech company Alibaba.

Nurturing leadership in search funds, by Professor Jan Simon

In this recently published research, Professor Jan Simon and Ann-Sophie Kowalewski, a Ph.D. student in Management and Entrepreneurship, examine the search fund journey through a leadership lens. The authors argue that leadership and leadership development are at the core of the search fund model, as, without them, the creation of value and values will be modest at best.
